This game takes place in an Alternate Continuity following the ending of Sonic GenerationsAt the end of Sonic Generations, Classic Sonic and Tails return to their own time. Although Super Tails didn't have his Flicky army back in S3&K.

Super Knuckles is probably all but confirmed he was usable in the mobile port of Sonic 2, so I don't see the team excluding Super Knuckles from Sonic Mania Knuckles is playable, I can only assume he'll be able to enter Special Stages to grab Chaos only makes sense.

Check him out, he is really amazingly talented and passionate about the Sonic franchise. Pietepiet on Twitter and Superpietepiet on Tumblr. This is the Sonic with music stuck in my head on my way to work.Īs a pixelart fan, I also feel the need to point out one of the people working on the beautiful new sprite artwork (I believe he did Tails and Knuckles among others), Paul Veer (which I've only learned watching the credits).

This is the Sonic where I go and replay stages not just for time and high score, but because they're damn fun. Sonic Mania is a Great great platforming game! This is the Sonic that went head to head with 2D Mario games as a worthy rival (even though they're completely different game experiences in every way possible). Not that there isn't enough positive reception currently, but I feel with how the franchise developed and how its reception has been even when some entries were good to great, it needs to be put on repeat: Those are all small glitches though, and while I hope they will get addressed in patches, they don't break this otherwise phenomenal game. Did not encounter any music bugs so far, and playing on Switch here - occasionally have the home button not properly working thing. Press Garden Act 2, immediately after getting out of the ring and having obtained a chaos emerald. It will automatically jump you to the beginning of the next mach level, and it's unlikely that you'll have picked up zero blue spheres before finding one. They're slow.įinally,if you come across a blue arrow container thing, the ideal point to pick it up is just after you reach mach 2. Ignore those unless you need whatever they lead to, or they help you get across something you can't jump. Whilst you travel faster on the main path, some corners are worth cutting if there's no bouncing walls in the way. Once you're at mach 3, blue spheres are just for points, so don't worry about them then. Focus on blue spheres instead, and get to mach 3 as soon as possible, or at least mach 2 to stop the distance from increasing too much if you really need the rings.

Don't worry about rings early on unless they're on the way, or you really need them. Whilst there's the obvious time limit of how many rings you have left, if you let the ufo get too far away then you're just not going to catch up, even at mach 3.
